on On September 7th, over 100 students and coaches gathered at Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles for the i.am Angel Foundation and LAUSD’s first-ever FIRST Tech Challenge Kickoff. The event aimed to energize and prepare students for the upcoming season while promoting STEAM engagement.
At the kickoff, i.am Angel and LAUSD partnered with FIRST Robotics to unveil the 2024-2025 challenge, FIRST DIVE. This season, teams will use their STEM and teamwork skills to explore life beneath the ocean’s surface. Along the way, they’ll discover how collaboration can strengthen communities and inspire innovative solutions for healthier oceans and a better world.
Following the game announcement, participants took part in hands-on workshops focused on robot building, CAD programming, and engineering portfolio development, ensuring teams are fully prepared for a successful season.
These young innovators are set to design, build, and code robots that tackle real-world problems, embodying the mission of STEAM education in our communities. We’re proud to foster an environment where students can gain hands-on experience, problem-solving skills, and teamwork—skills that will serve them far beyond the competition.
