i.am Angel Student Spotlight – Marlene Vidal
Marlene started her journey with the i.am Angel Foundation in 2012, when she joined the inaugural cohort of i.am College Track students in Boyle Heights.
Graduating from high school in 2016, Marlene set off to college in hopes of majoring with an art degree. However, those plans changed once she accepted an internship position with Permaswage, an aviation parts company based out of Los Angeles. As a Continuous Improvement Engineer intern, Marlene was able to combine design and innovation with her interest in STEM. She credits her internship with deciding to major and graduate with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, and is currently still interning with Permaswage with the hope of finding a full time role with the company.
Marlene is just one example of the success our students have after high school. Her determination led her to a college degree, and has set her up for a bright future ahead!
