Founder, will.i.am will join students and families for a ceremony celebrating the newest class of college-bound students.

BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA – On Thursday, May 25, 2017, leading college completion program College Track will host a Launch to College graduation ceremony celebrating the 2017 graduating class of i.am College Track students.

Every year, College Track celebrates its high school graduates as they continue their journey towards a college degree. Students and their families are joined by community leaders and College Track supporters for a graduation ceremony and reception to honor and recognize the graduating class for their academic achievements and personal resilience over the past four years. For i.am College Track, Thursday’s event will mark the second graduating class since the program opened its doors in Boyle Heights in 2012.

50% of students from Boyle Heights never complete high school and only 5% of Boyle Heights residents hold a 4-year college degree. With a staggering 100% of i.am College Track’s class of 61 Roosevelt High School students bound for college in the fall, this phenomenal group of young men and women underscore the transformational power of College Track’s programming.

Founded in partnership with the i.am.angel Foundation, The California Endowment, the Wasserman Foundation, and JPMorgan Chase, i.am College Track has provided over 324 students from Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles with the resources and guidance they need to get into and graduate from college. This year, the Find Your Grind Foundation also announces a substantial donation towards the i.am College Track in partnership with i.am Angel and scholarships for it’s graduating class of 2017.

The program will feature a formal graduation ceremony with parents, supporters, and local community leaders to congratulate the class of 2017 and celebrate their academic excellence and personal resilience in the pursuit of a college degree. In addition to the ceremony, the Find Your Grind Foundation, in partnership with global music artist, entrepreneur and i.am.angel Foundation president, will.i.am, will announce scholarship awards for graduating students pursuing majors in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields.

Since its founding in 1997, College Track has empowered over 2,800 students on their path toward earning a college degree through centers serving nine different communities across the United States.

About College Track

College Track is a college completion program that empowers students from underserved communities to graduate from college. From the summer before 9th grade through college graduation, our 10-year program unlocks opportunities for students to earn their college degree by providing them with comprehensive academic support, leadership training, college and financial aid advising, and scholarships. We teach them the skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond.

With six centers in California, one in the city of New Orleans, and two in Colorado, College Track serves over 2,400 students in nine low-income communities across the United States.
