LAUSD x IAA FIRST Tech Challenge: Celebrating a Season of Success!
We are thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) during the 2023-2024 FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Season! This season featured the “FIRST IN SHOW” game, presented by Qualcomm, which emphasized the integration of STEM and the arts, sparking creativity and innovation. In the game CENTERSTAGE, presented by RTX, teams showcased their design and precision skills to create new experiences.
With 80 teams from 54 schools and over 700 talented students participating, this season has been a tremendous success, marking an increase from the 64 teams in the previous 2022-2023 season. Teams from all LAUSD regions—North, East, South, and West—competed in qualifying tournaments to advance to the district-level tournament. From each qualifying event, five teams progressed to the district championship.
The season came to a close on March 2nd, 2024, with the district’s Regional Championship Tournament at Roosevelt High School, where approximately 200 students displayed their skills and passion for robotics. During the event, 22 teams vied for the opportunity to claim two spots reserved for LAUSD league representatives at the 2024 FIRST Championship held in April in Houston, Texas.
